No-exam life insurance

Accelerated underwriting eligibility, how the procedure operates, and what to expect if you fall outside the criteria.

Currently, numerous carriers have rolled out rapid underwriting: applicants within certain age bands and coverage limits can get approved through the application, pharmacy data, driving records and information databases rather than going through a medical exam. Many decisions arrive within hours. Each rate shown here specifies if a medical exam is mandated, potentially needed, or waived for that plan.

What it changes

Skipping an exam doesn't mean skipping the verification process. Your statements go through fact-checking, and a policy issued on false data has a two-year period during which the carrier can challenge it. Should the insurer's investigation turn up concerns, they might order an exam or blood tests; you can choose to go forward or not.

Who tends to qualify

Commonly, individuals under sixty or so requesting protection up to the carrier's rapid-approval threshold, with no serious prior health conditions and no tobacco products for a year or longer. Carriers may accept recent lab results from a physician visit instead of requiring a medical exam.

Should you require an exam, it typically takes twenty to forty minutes and is conducted by a medical technician at your residence or workplace in the greater Alameda region, at zero charge to you. Better test results can move you up a rate category, meaning an exam might actually help you get a lower rate.
